This year, we are embarking on the newest chapter of our community involvement and are proud to announce Meridian Realty's partnership with the Imibala Trust.
More about the Imibala Trust
The Imibala Trust is a registered South African NPO that works with children of school-age, helping them find new possibilities in lives that have been affected by impoverished circumstances. The Imibala Trust provides a unique platform, offering programmes that make a substantial and measurable difference in the daily and future lives of the children. The programmes instil a sense of excellence in the children and help them prepare for productive lives after school. Every child that comes to the Trust, regardless of race or creed, is assisted through these programmes with the support and guidance of educators, mentors and volunteers who are invested in the improvement of these children's lives.
Developing the leaders of the future
The Learner Advancement Department at Imibala offers academic and personal development programmes to primary and high school learners who attend partner schools. Their premises houses a library and 3 classrooms, one of which is equipped with 22 computers. The focus of this department is to provide programmes that are complementary to the school curriculum and add value to each child's developmental journey through computer-enhanced math lessons, LEGO play, coding, life skills, and leadership development.
To ensure the development of well-rounded individuals, the Creative and Performing Arts Department brings smiles and excitement each week to the children arriving for lessons in art, pottery, drama, music and ballet. Here, individuality, creativity, and encouragement all contribute to the full experience of the journey at Imibala. At the end of every year, there is a Village Celebration that showcases the art created by the children throughout the year. Proud parents and school staff are invited to be wowed by what has been achieved by their children.
Changing lives with each property transaction
The flagship programme, which affects the largest number of children annually, is the Sponsor-a-Child programme. The effects of persistent poverty continue to compromise children's futures and hamper their dignity, safety, and ability to thrive in the school system. Through the Sponsor-a-Child programme, children are provided with essential items, including a school uniform (which includes a full school tracksuit, winter wear, and a pair of leather school shoes) and a school bag with basic stationery.
After every registered transaction, Meridian Realty donates a portion of its commission to the Imibala Trust, which goes directly towards the Sponsor-a-Child programme.
