- Spring Centrepiece
Nothing says "spring has sprung" quite like a statement spring centrepiece to brighten up your home.
Step 1: Pick your container
You can use any container that you have in your home, just make sure that it is medium-sized. Also, pop into your local craft store and get some floral tape for your arrangement. Use the floral tape to make a grid at the opening of your container so that you can section your flowers and greenery.
Step 2: Add greenery of your choice
This can be any greenery that you like, whether it is bought from a nursery or taken from your garden. The greenery will provide the perfect base for your flowers.
Step 3: Add flowers of your choice
You have your base of greenery, now you can add the flowers! Here is where you can be creative and have fun with your arrangement by using any flowers, colours, or shapes that you like.
- 3D-Framed Botanicals
Bursting with spring colour, 3D-framed botanicals bring the beauty of nature indoors. Fake flowers never need watering and there is no waiting for your favourite blossoms to come into season; just hang them up and enjoy the freshness and radiance it brings to your home.
What will you need?
- Empty photo frames
- Fake flowers of your choice
- Cream-coloured masking tape
- Scissors
- Nails
- Hammer
Now that you have all your supplies, start with organising your photo frames and flowers on a flat surface to get an idea of the pattern you want to follow. Next, hammer the nails into the wall where you want to hang your frames. Lastly, tape your flowers inside the empty picture frames to the wall in the pattern of your choice. Easy, right?
- Brushstroke Cushion Covers
The turn of the season is a wonderful time to refresh your decor, and if you are thinking of swapping out your throw pillows, brushstroke cushion covers will add some colour to your couch.
What will you need?
- Fabric
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Bowls to mix the paint
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Old cushion
Instructions:
Step 1:
Cut your fabric into three different pieces. One piece will be 2 cm all around, while the other two pieces will be two-thirds the cushion size and 2 cm all around.
Tip: If your fabric frays a lot, you can sew the edge to make it easier to paint.
Step 2:
Mix your paints in the bowls to get your desired colour.
Tip: The paint will make the fabric a little stiff, but you can add a bit of water that will also give your cushion cover that beautiful watercolour effect.
Step 3:
Paint! Use a bunch of different techniques and go crazy while you are creating your unique piece of art.
Step 4:
Once the paint has dried, place the smaller pieces of fabric onto the big piece and make sure that the right sides are facing inwards.
Step 5:
Sew the fabric together and voila, you have a beautiful new cushion cover!
